BRPT Eliminates CEC Category Requirement for Recertification
Please see the message below from the BRPT President, Janice East, RPSGT, R. EEG T.
Effective June 1, 2011, the following modifications and upgrades in RPSGT recertification policies and procedures will take effect:
- CECs are no longer specified or limited by category: to recertify, an RPSGT must simply earn 50 approved CECs over the course of five years. There will be no limits on the number of CECs earned by specific program or activity type.
- RPSGTs with 50 approved CECs can complete the recertification process anytime within a six-month window in advance of the recertification date specified on their current certificate. The recertification "clock" will reset for five years from the date of completion of the recertification process – not five years from the original required date of recertification. Any CECs earned after this date will count toward the next five-year recertification period.
- Upon successful completion of the recertification process RPSGTs will have the ability to print an electronic certificate, and to opt out of receiving a new hard-copy certificate. It will be possible, however, to choose to both print out an electronic certificate in real time and receive a hard copy certificate by mail.
- After June 1, our recertification software will tally total CECs earned within a five-year recertification cycle. The tally – "Certification Summary" – will no longer stop at the 50 CECs required to recertify. And remember: all documentation uploaded to your recertification portal is retained for your future reference, from one recertification cycle to the next.
