Atlanta, GA (Vocus/PRWEB) December 28, 2010--- The Atlanta School of Sleep Medicine and Technology, in collaboration with the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) and International Sleep Network, will begin offering its physician course on BMCC’s campus in February. The partnership is a milestone for both schools. This is the Atlanta School’s first live physician course in New York and BMCC’s first course for those seeking Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits.

Designed for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and industry representatives, Sleep Medicine and Polysomnography functions as an introduction and review of the fundamentals and best practices of sleep medicine.

“We designed this course with physician convenience in mind,” said Dr. Russell Rosenberg, CEO of the Atlanta School. “Offered over a weekend to work into hectic schedules, we also wanted to be more accessible to physicians in the Northeast. When the opportunity with BMCC presented itself, it was a great fit.”

The course will run on BMCC’s campus from February 10-13, 2011. Throughout the 4-day course, students learn to recognize and describe the fundamental rules of polysomnographic analysis, to examine normal sleep and sleep disorders from a multi-disciplinary medical perspective and how to analyze polysomnographic interpretations. In addition to reviewing the basics of sleep and sleep problems, students learn directly from patients with sleep disorders through patient case presentations.

“BMCC is excited for this new endeavor and the opportunity to offer more options for our students,” said Sunil Gupta, Dean of the Center of Adult Continuing Education and Workforce Development at BMCC. “The Atlanta School has been training sleep professionals for over 18 years and we are excited about this partnership.”

The Atlanta School and BMCC plan to continue their partnership and bring other sleep medicine courses to the New York area. The Atlanta School’s popular Sleep Medicine for Nurse Practitioners and Physicians Assistants course is currently in development for BMCC’s campus.
Maximum capacity for the course is set at 40 students. The $3300 price includes live class and course material.
