Atlanta, GA (Vocus/PRWEB ) May 22, 2010 -- The Atlanta School of Sleep Medicine
& Technology will be exhibiting for the fifteenth year in a row at SLEEP 2010, the 24th Annual Meeting of the Associated Professional Sleep Societies (APSS). SLEEP 2010 will take place from Saturday, June 5th thru Wednesday, June 9th at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas.
The SLEEP meeting is attended by approximately 5,500 physicians, researchers, technologists, students and other allied healthcare professionals, over 50 percent of whom specialize in sleep medicine. The SLEEP meeting also attracts an international crowd that makes up roughly 15 percent of the overall attendance.
The Atlanta School will be exhibiting in booth number 819, where they will have information readily available for all attendees on the upcoming online and live sleep medicine classes available for both sleep professionals and those who may be interested in entering the Sleep Medicine field. Staff will also be on-site and available to answer any questions regarding the school's offerings as well as any sleep education related questions that may arise.
Michael Lacey, MD, Diplomate ABPN - Sleep Medicine, Medical Director for the Atlanta School of Sleep Medicine & Technology, and Medical Director of the Atlanta Sleep Medicine Clinic, will be exhibiting one of the Poster Presentations featured at SLEEP 2010. Dr. Lacey's poster, entitled, "The Increasing Role of Physicians' Assistants and Nurse Practitioners in Sleep Medicine: Educational and Practice implications," is closely related to the school's new emphasis on educating Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants in the field of Sleep Medicine. The Poster Presentations are visual representations of the latest research and new ideas in the Sleep Medicine field.
Gail Reid, Program Manager of the Atlanta School, had these words to say about the importance of the APSS SLEEP 2010 meeting: "I think the SLEEP meeting is the premiere international sleep meeting, with a great mix of courses, exhibitors and networking opportunities."
Terrence Malloy, RPSGT, Lead Instructor at the Atlanta School added, "[The SLEEP meeting is important in several ways, number one to touch base with past attendees and address new interest. Secondly, it is important for the faculty and staff to gain insight into new areas of technical interest and scientific issues, especially this year with the focus on licensing rules and regulations." Malloy later emphasized the importance of keeping the Atlanta School relevant by networking with former students at events such as the SLEEP 2010 meeting. Reid also stressed the importance of SLEEP 2010 by saying, "It's the go-to place for sleep professionals."
The Atlanta School of Sleep Medicine is proud of its long-standing history with the SLEEP meeting, and looks forward to the success of the SLEEP 2010 meeting this year in San Antonio, TX.
